Sweet Springs HS has requested that we share the following information with our fans attending tonight's Varsity football game at Sweet Springs HS: 'All students attending the game are expected to sit & watch the game. Any students found running around on district property will be asked to sit with their parents.'

Kindergarteners explored new options for STEM Station rotations in the library.

Thursday's Varsity Softball game vs. Norborne/Hardin-Central @Norborne will start at 5:30. Bus will leave at 3:30. Go, Lady Cats!

The SHS Ag Science I class hosted guest speaker, Ms. Bonita Butner on Friday, who spoke about the Dalton Vocational School. Her late mother, Ida was a student at the school alongside others in the Slater and Gilliam area. Dalton VS was one of 4 schools in the state to once have a New Farmers of America Chapter. NFA was established in 1935 for African American youth to promote agricultural leadership and citizenship, merging with FFA in 1965. A big thank you goes out to Ms. Butner for her annual visit during the FFA History unit!

Class of 2026, our class meeting from tomorrow 9/10/24 is moved to 9/11/24 at 730 am in Mrs. Bayne's room. Sorry for the late notice

Reminder, there is one week remaining to apply. The Slater Board of Education is giving notice of Board Member vacancy. Residents of the school district wishing to apply for the vacant position, please send a letter of interest stating qualifications and reason for wishing to be a Board Member to Dr. Terry Lorenz, Superintendent of Schools, by September 16, 2024 by 3:00 pm. Send letter of interest to: Slater School District, 515 N Elm, Slater, MO 65349. The following are eligible to hold office in accordance with Missouri law: citizen of the United States of America. Resident taxpayer of the Slater School District. Resided in Missouri for a minimum of one year immediately preceding my election. At least 24 years of age. Not delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes and/or personal property taxes. Not been found guilty of nor have I pled guilty to a felony under the federal laws of the United States of America. Not registered or required to be registered as a sex offender pursuant to Missouri law.

Menu Change Due to a mix up with our delivery. Tomorrow's breakfast will be Apple frudel, fruit, Fruit juice and milk. Friday's breakfast will be French toast stick, fruit, fruit juice, and milk.

The 7th grade students worked on team building skills during PE today by competing in the "human centipede" challenge. They had to work together to move the mat from one end of the gym to the other without using their hands or letting it hit the ground. Great team work!

Class of 2026 we will meet at 730 am on Tuesday, September 10th in Mrs. Bayne's room. If you cannot make it please let us know as soon as possible. We have lots to discuss so the meeting will start promptly at 730.

5th Grade Band Parents, tonight is instrument rental night! I will be in the band room by 4:30 for those who need to come before football practice. Otherwise, I will see you at 5pm in the Band room! Please come to the band room door next to the gym double doors, closest to the Fitness Center. See you there.

Tonight's softball game against New Franklin is moved to Marshall High School, First pitch still at 5pm, JV game will follow. There will be no concessions.
