SHS Students: Join us Thursday morning to see what FTA is all about!

The SHS Ag Science I class hosted Dr. Bonita Butner on Friday, who spoke about the Dalton Vocational School. Her late mother, Ida was a student at the school alongside others in the Slater and Gilliam area.
Dalton VS was one of 4 schools in the state to once have a New Farmers of America Chapter (their charter photo pictured). NFA was established in 1935 for African American youth to promote agricultural leadership and citizenship, merging with FFA in 1965.
A big thank you goes out to Ms. Butner for her annual visit during the FFA History unit - it is a program favorite!
