We have continued to monitor our county COVID numbers - which have continued to decline and have not had any positives in our school community for quite some time.  Because of this, we will move into  the Masks Optional stage when we come back on Monday.  Our teachers will still decide their classroom options, but the district as a whole will be mask optional; this will include all upcoming activities as well. We will continue to monitor to end the school year strong.

Students and Families thank you for being flexible the past couple of days! I appreciate everything the families and our teachers/staff are doing to keep everyone learning! Students, please remember there are expectations for online learning; not following the guidelines will result in you being dismissed from class along with no credit for the day. This is not ideal, but we all need to be on the same page. If you need to review the expectations, please take a look at your principal's newsletter. After looking at the weather for the rest of the week, here is our schedule: Wednesday and Thursday will be virtual school days - Look for your ZOOM invites to your classes and work will continue to be posted on Google Classroom for each day. The decision for Friday will be made Thursday; if we are not in school we will classify that day as a "Snow Day" - No Classes will meet. We are still looking at Friday's basketball game - soon as we know something, it will be sent out to you as well. Stay Warm - it is cold out! Mrs. G

In an effort to remain proactive we have decided to take action on the increasing illnesses that are being reported.  Starting Friday, October 30th we will close the school for a deep and thorough cleaning.  All staff will report back on Monday, November 2nd and the students will not report back until November 9th.  Thursday, October 29 will be our last Face to Face Instructional Day until students return on Monday, November 9. To be clear, the decision to go virtual is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our staff and students.  In regards to sports, if the team is not quarantined we are still allowing for practices and games.  Coaches will be in contact with their teams with information regarding times.  I have attached the virtual schedules and online expectations for your reference.  If you requested chromebooks at registration, they will be sent home with your students at the end of day tomorrow.  Your building principal will be in touch with packet pickup times for those that are needing them. There will NOT be meals available during this week so please make accommodation for home meals.   Debbie Debbie GonzalezSuperintendent Slater School District 515 N. Important! Please read: Your Picture Day might look a little different this year. You may not be receiving Order Flyers, so communication to parents may look a little different too. That's why we have created a website for you to get answers, tools and resources to help make Picture Day run smoothly. Visit the Picture Day Guide Website here! A note on masks: We rely on parent volunteers or school employees to ensure each child is ready to have their picture taken and has their mask removed if they feel comfortable. Our photographers may simply ask one time, "Would you like to take off the mask for your portrait?" Please make sure teachers or volunteers remind the students that when it's their turn to take their picture, it is okay to remove the mask and hold it in their hands.
