We have continued to monitor our county COVID numbers - which have continued to decline and have not had any positives in our school community for quite some time. Because of this, we will move into the Masks Optional stage when we come back on Monday. Our teachers will still decide their classroom options, but the district as a whole will be mask optional; this will include all upcoming activities as well. We will continue to monitor to end the school year strong.

HS Accounting students just wrapped up a quarter long financial simulation where they had the opportunity to make realistic money decisions in order to run a coffee shop. They designed their spaces, created inventory lists, kept track of their own ledgers and worked together to take risks to better their businesses!

The number of staff members that are out due to COVID or quarantined because of a close contact has reached the threshold of operating insufficiently for our students. Our goal has been to stay in school, where it is most beneficial unless we could not accommodate staff. We will do a thorough cleaning of the buildings and look to start back on Monday, Nov. 30.

Mrs. Sayler's Preschool class will be having their class Halloween Party tomorrow (October 29th). Students may wear their costumes if they choose to.
In an effort to remain proactive we have decided to take action on the increasing illnesses that are being reported. Starting Friday, October 30th we will close the school for a deep and thorough cleaning. All staff will report back on Monday, November 2nd and the students will not report back until November 9th. Thursday, October 29 will be our last Face to Face Instructional Day until students return on Monday, November 9. To be clear, the decision to go virtual is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our staff and students. In regards to sports, if the team is not quarantined we are still allowing for practices and games. Coaches will be in contact with their teams with information regarding times. I have attached the virtual schedules and online expectations for your reference. If you requested chromebooks at registration, they will be sent home with your students at the end of day tomorrow. Updated News for Substitute Teachers: The Missouri Governor has allocated Coronavirus Relief funds to reimburse individuals to become substitute teachers. If you do not have 60 college credit hours, you may now take a 20-hour online training course, attain your fingerprint background check plus the application fee; for a total of $266.75, this total will now be fully reimbursed back to the individual upon completion. August 24, 2020 - Today, the Slater School Board of Education decided to delay the start of school to Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Due to the increase rise of COVID cases in our area, it is in the best interest for our Wildcat Family to do so at this time. All face-to-face activities and practices are suspended until Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, although virtual practices may still take place. We will continue to evaluate the situation to keep our community informed. As of now, classes will begin Sept. 1 whether that be online or face-to-face with decisions to be released on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020.

To honor our Senior Class - We are going to join the "Be the Light" campaign with other school districts in the state. On Friday, at 8:20, we will turn on the football and softball/baseball lights for 20 minutes to show support for the Class of 2020. You are invited to drive past the fields and honk your horns. Please remain in your vehicles in order to adhere to physical distancing guidelines.
Per Governor Parson's order today all Missouri Schools will not reopen for the remainder of this school year. We will continue with our remote learning; more info on this and other activities will be coming next week.
